the bots are coming! the bots are coming!
It has been an eternity since I last updated, so I thought I might give something a little more entertaining and perhaps to actually read.
I created an IRC (Internet Relay Chat for the uninitiated) bot in January and named it shrubbery. She has determined for herself that she is female, and can be found hanging around in #ampedout and #shrubbery on the efnet IRC network. She is an eggdrop bot using MegaHAL for her Artificial Intelligence. Megahal is based mainly on Markov chains, which means it listens to others talk and learns to do so by association. You can check out the MegaHAL project site here. In February, I created a livejournal account for shrubbery and started posting interesting quotes every so often. She has gotten fairly coherent in the last few weeks, and had a rash of funny quotes today, which I posted.
Her lj username is shrubbot, so go check it out. If you ever IRC, I invite you to log onto efnet and talk to her in #shrubbery or #ampedout - home of some phat industrial beats ( http://ampedout.net ).
